Home Kit item: the park

Trail through tall grass toward aspen hills and a lake

From Bear Claw to Kenosee Lake

Moose Mountain Provincial Park begins 3.2 km west of the casino, taking the shortest map line to its nearest edge. Because one base works for a park day and a casino evening, the Moose Mountain field desk measures the points around both on this page.

  • Park edge: 3.2 km west, straight line
  • Kenosee Lake village: 8.1 km north
  • Trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling

Spec 01

What the park holds

Moose Mountain offers rolling hills along with poplar and birch trees. Its extensive trail network serves hikers, bikers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers. Away from the trails, people camp, boat, swim and play tennis and golf in the area. This page does not cover trail names or lengths.

The casino stands in the Moose Mountains on White Bear First Nations, in southeast Saskatchewan. It is outside the park boundary. The nearest edge of the park lies 3.2 km to the west, measured in a straight line. Roads bend and run longer than that. That gap is the main figure for anyone splitting a day between the two.

Spec 02

Measured points around the casino

White Bear Lake Golf Course lies 2.7 km east of the casino. The village of Kenosee Lake is 8.1 km north. Golf Kenosee sits 8.5 km north, and on the map it falls inside the park boundary. Farther east, Cannington Manor Provincial Historic Park is 18 km away.

Every figure is a direct line between two map points. Since roads curve and cover more ground, no driving times appear in this guide. White Bear Lake Golf Course, Golf Kenosee and Cannington Manor appear on the casino's list of places nearby by car rather than within walking distance. That list also includes The Red Market Barn, which has not been measured on this page. When planning a trip, read the four figures as spacing rather than travel time.

Roads bend and run longer than these lines; the guide gives no driving times. The park line ends at the nearest point of the mapped park boundary, which is 3.2 km west of the casino.

Spec 03

A park morning, a casino evening

Bear Claw runs daily from 11 am until midnight. Mornings stay open for the park before the casino starts its day. Growlers Restaurant takes guests of every age, from 11:30 am to 9 pm, all week. Parking on the lot is free, and spaces are plentiful.

Hotel guests can reach the front desk between 6 am and 9:45 pm by calling 306-577-4588. Every time in this field kit follows Saskatchewan's clock, which stays on Central Standard Time year-round. Bear Claw does not post holiday hours, so the casino line, 306-577-4577, is where to ask. Before the evening begins, settle on a stopping time and a spending cap, and hold to both.
